The social activity sites such as Strava, Endomondo and Runkeeper are great for activity tracking when a person doesn't have a GPS such as the Garmin Edge 500 and wants to simply use a smartphone instead. But if you have a Garmin Edge, take advantage of the better accuracy it provides, as well as the additional information such as temperature, altimeter adjustment and others. It's really easy to record your rides on the Edge and then upload them automatically to Endomondo. Here's how you do it.
To log a ride on the Garmin Edge 500, you first short press the top right button to start the timer. The timer has several options such as auto pause and power saving shutdown that can be configured, however for now we'll just cover starting the timer. The Garmin Edge 500 manual is a great resource for the other configuration options.

At the end of the ride you then short press the very same top right button to stop the timer.

After the timer is successfully stopped, long press the bottom right button to save the ride. Long pressing should result in a message mentioning reset and counting down from 3. At this point you can connect it to the computer to download the ride.

The first thing you need to do once done riding is install the Garmin Commnuicator Plugin. The Garmin Communicator plugin allows your computer to talk to your GPS and download the activity files. This is a one-time thing and only needs to be done if it's never been done before.
Next, go to Endomondo and select New Workout in the top right corner.
Endomondo New Workout option
The next screen will ask you which sort of activity to upload, you'll want to choose Import from Garmin as shown in the image.
Endomondo Import from Garmin option
Endomondo will communicate with your Garmin GPS via the Garmin Communicator Plugin and find your activities as shown in the image below.

After importing your activity, you will then be taken to your current activity with all of your stats.
